Inside National Geographic Traveller AUS & NZ

National Geographic Traveller, Australia & New Zealand edition, is about places and experiences that open peoples’ minds to the different cultures, traditions and ways of the world. It's for intrepid travellers with a hunger for responsible, educational and adventurous travel. The magazine presents in-depth feature articles about some of the most exciting places on the planet, and many other interesting features on people, places and products.

National Geographic Traveller Global

National Geographic Traveller championed sustainable travel before it became a trend, celebrating journeys that are about place, experience, culture, authenticity, living like the locals, and incredible signature photography. The magazine makes a distinction between tourism and travel, and stresses inquisitive not acquisitive trips. It employs storytelling and you-are-there photography to inspire readers to get up and go with the theme of ‘Nobody Knows This World Better’.

Meet the Editor

Geordie_Torr_Dec2015_sm.jpg

Geordie Torr originally trained as a biologist, studying lizards in the rainforests of North Queensland. A sideline in freelance writing was then transformed into a career when he became a staff writer and then chief sub-editor on Australian Geographic.

A move to the UK saw him taking on the role of deputy editor of Geographical, the magazine of the Royal Geographical Society, and then assuming the editorship a few years later. This role gave him a wonderful opportunity to continue his long-running love affair with travel in all of its forms, which began in 1992 with an eight-month backpacking trip around Canada, Europe and Central America, and has now seen him visit more than 50 countries around the world.

He recently completed a year-long, 25-country trip around Europe and then overland from the UK to Australia with his partner and children.
